STII cited GAD-TWG’s contribution in its first ever GAD Plan and Budget endorsement

The DOST-STII cited its GAD-TWG for accomplishing the requirements of the Philippine Commission for Women (PCW) that resulted in the endorsement of the DOST-STII FY 2020 GAD Plan and Budget, its first endorsement since the government’s issuance of the PCW-NEDA-DBM Joint Circular No. 2012-01. The commendation was awarded during the STII’s 33rd Anniversary celebration.

PCW also commended DOST-STII for complying with the submission of the annual GAD Plan and Budget.

STII is among the seven (7) agencies of DOST with an endorsed 2020 GAD Plan and Budget. Other agencies include: DOST-Central Office and Regional Offices (DOST-CO), Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), Forest Product Research and Development Institute (FPRDI), Metal Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC), Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD), and Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). 

Under the 2020 GAD Plan, STII will conduct workshop-trainings to formulate its six-year GAD Agenda, as well as gender fair-media trainings for Mediacore members and mainstream media partners.  

STII also plans to open a GAD room in 2020 which can be used by lactating mothers, children, elderly and persons with disabilities, either employees or visitors of the agency.

Also included in its 2020 plan is the development of its GAD-related information materials through library benchmarking activities and enhance librarians’ awareness by offering basic GAD concepts through an orientation during the National Book Week.

In accordance with Section 36 of the Magna Carta of Women, government agencies, headed by the PCW, are called to prepare and submit their GAD Plan and Budget annually, allotting at least 5% of their budget to gender related programs and activities. (By Christel Marie R. Castillo, DOST-STII)
