The Department of Science and Technology-Science and Technology Information (DOST-STII) has received its fourth unmodified opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA) for its financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2024.
Since 2021, the DOST-STII has consistently received this citation from COA.
The unmodified opinion, also known as unqualified opinion, is the highest form of audit assurance given by COA, affirming that financial statements of a certain entity are presented fairly, in all material respects, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
“We believe that our audit provides a reasonable basis for rendering an unmodified opinion. We express our appreciation for the valuable support and cooperation extended by the Agency officials and staff to our audit team,” COA Director IV Corazon S. Rocas said.
According to COA, the audit was conducted in accordance with the International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAIs) to determine the level of assurance that may be placed on management's assertions on the financial statements and to determine the propriety of transactions as well as the extent of compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
“We are happy that once again, DOST-STII received an unmodified opinion from the Commission on Audit for Calendar Year 2024. The accounting team has been consistent in delivering unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and sound financial management since 2021. We are grateful to the Lord for this achievement,” DOST-STII Chief Administrative Officer Arlene E. Centeno.
More than a citation, Centeno said that “this is a true testament of collective effort, diligence and integrity of the entire agency.”
With that, the agency commits to continue serving the public with the highest standards of good governance and transparency.
