The student-participants excitedly triedthe mini experiment on how clouds are formed using a specialized plastic bottle.Bernard R. Punzalan, a meteorologist from the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), explained that the rubber squeeze on the bottle cap pumps air into the bottle and forces water vapor in the atmosphereto compress together inside. As soon as the

bottle cap is opened, pressure is released and this simulates what a cloud looks likeinside the bottle. Using this experiment, Punzalan discussed how typhoons are formedand how people can prepare before, during, and after a typhoon. The “cloud in a bottle” experiment is part of The Disaster Summit for Stakeholders held on 18 July 2019 at the World Trade Center, as part of the celebration of the National Science and Technology Week that runs 17 to 21 July 2019.
