As a way of moving forward, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of Thailand agreed to work together in eightareas. Said areas include medical science, food processing, innovative agriculture, electronics and computer, nanotechnology, space technology, innovative start-up, and metrology.

The collaboration was fleshed out when Science Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña,along with the Philippine delegation met with MOST Minister AtchakaSibunruang and her heads of agenciesduring a ministerial meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on 23 -26 August 2017.

Assistance from state universities in Calabarzon successfully created enterprises in the communities, according to a study presented in a recent international conference.

The country’s state universities are potential contributors to economic development. They are the ones who link government programs in agriculture, technology transfer and trade to the communities in the countryside.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region III, in recognition of the important role of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in spurring economic growth in the countryside, awarded the best SETUP adoptors for the region.

SETUP is an acronym for the innovative program of the DOST called Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading program. Started in 2009, SETUP assists MSMEs in improving their operations to increase productivity, improve product quality, and ensure sustainability.
