Elderly patients need not leave their homes to go to a hospital for healthcare services. Instead, healthcare may be brought right into the comfort of their homes.
According to Dr. Mohamed Jamal Deen, president of the Academy of Science, Royal Society of Canada, this will be achieved via ICT mechanisms which will make“Automatic Smart Homes” possible. Dr. Deen is a leading expert in modeling, design and applications of modern advanced semiconductor devices and circuits.
Deen delivered a lecture on “Smarter Homes, Better Healthcare” recently during an event organized by the Department of Science and Technology-National Academy of Science and Technology (DOST-NAST)held at the Manila Hotel.

SAN CARLOS, PANGASINAN- Three universities in Pangasinan now have access to the country’s first digital science library being the new recipients of the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) Science and Technology Academic and Research-based Openly Operated Kiosk Station or STARBOOKS.
Developed by experts from DOST’s Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST- STII), STARBOOKS is a standalone, one-stop information source, containing thousands of S&T resources in various formats- text and audio or video, placed in especially designed pods made with user- friendly interface.

“Agham na Ramdam!”is the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) mantrain making Filipinos feel and experience the impact of science and technology (S&T) in their daily lives. Nowii is the monicker of DOST’s latest information campaign, and is all set to rally the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) as DOST’s Science Nation Tour goes to Baguio City for its next leg on October 6-8, 2015.
