Ensuring the welfare concerns and consumer protection on water and food safety and quality, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Western Visayas or DOST Region VI (DOST-VI) included the newly established Shelf Life Testing Services in the existing laboratory services of its Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL).   With this, the DOST-VI RSTL also houses the Microbiological Testing Laboratory (MTL), Chemical Testing Laboratory (CTL), and Metrology Laboratory (MTL).

In coordination with the Kalibo Federation of Civil Society Organization (KFCSO) and the Local Government Unit of Kalibo, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Western Visayas or DOST Region VI (DOST-VI) recently facilitated an orientation session that focused on the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading (SETUP) Program and Packaging and Labeling Services.

A Filipino registered nurse by the name of Denver Chicano, with a big heart and a creative mind, came up with the idea of developing a wound patch specifically for diabetic patients.

His personal experience as a nurse at the Burn Unit of the Philippine General Hospital motivated him to develop products that will help patients with wounds to heal faster and better. Because of the result of narrowed blood vessels, diabetic wound healing is impaired because there is less oxygen that reach the wound that results in slow healing.
